In-office HSG saves time and money

Electing for an in-office HSG at Fertility Answers can save you time and money if you need this important fertility test. Additionally, you do not need to be a current Fertility Answers patient to have this test done at our office.

Our in-office HSG machine, the C-Arm Fluoroscopic Imaging System. With this amazing piece of equipment, we can now offer hysterosalpingograms (HSG) in our clinics to evaluate the uterine cavity and the patency of the fallopian tubes. This means more flexibility for our patients to have the procedure done in-office rather than having to schedule another appointment at another facility. Plus, we can determine your results immediately, eliminating the time delays previously required to receive the results and then schedule a follow-up appointment.

How does the C-Arm HSG work?

For conception to occur, the fallopian tubes need to be unobstructed to allow the sperm and egg to meet and fertilize. Often, scar tissue can block the fallopian tubes prohibiting the sperm of reaching the egg. Scar tissue can form in the fallopian tubes due to past infection, endometriosis and adhesions. An HSG test uses dye to check a woman’s tubes to make sure they are unobstructed.

During an HSG, dye is introduced into the uterus and fallopian tubes. As the dye is being passed into the uterus, x-ray pictures are being taken. These x-rays show if there is spillage occurring of the dye from the fallopian tubes or if the dye is trapped. The entire procedure usually takes less than 10 minutes. Our doctors can see the results immediately and can discuss the findings with you at the time of your visit.

Fertility Answers has HSG testing capability at both its Lafayette and Baton Rouge locations. While hospitals also offer this technology, the test at Fertility Answers often costs much less than what a hospital will charge. Please contact us to inquire about current pricing of our in-office HSG.
