Carrie Malcom, M.D., is a fellowship-trained reproductive endocrinologist originally from the St. Louis, MO, area with family roots in North Louisiana. Dr. Malcom attended undergrad at Tulane University in New Orleans where she earned both a Bachelor of Science in Cell & Molecular Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in 2010 and then a Master of Science in Cell & Molecular Biology in 2011.

She subsequently attended medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, KS, while also earning her PhD in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the school’s dual MD-PhD program. During this time, Dr. Malcom also volunteered regularly at the university-run healthcare clinic for the underserved populations of Kansas City.

Her deep interest in developmental biology and the origins of life led Dr. Carrie Malcom into an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency after medical school at the University of Miami where she immersed herself into women’s healthcare training. “I’ve long been intrigued with the beginnings of life at the molecular and cellular stage and how we develop from embryos,” says Dr. Malcom.

Dr. Carrie Malcom’s research focuses on fibroids and endometriosis

Her passion for women’s health issues eventually led Dr. Malcom to focus further research into how gene regulation and expression can be linked to fibroids and endometriosis. “There is still a lot we don’t know about the molecular biology that causes these particularly female issues.”

She furthered her specialization and surgical training in women’s health through a three-year Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship at the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL. During this period, Dr. Malcom conducted and won special academic awards and honors for her research into uterine fibroids and reproductive surgery from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS).

Dr. Carrie Malcom is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society and the Endocrine Society.

As a prior resident of Louisiana, Dr. Malcom is anxious to return to the state where she still has many friends. “I can’t wait to eat fresh boiled crawfish again!” In her free time, Dr. Malcom enjoys running, yoga, going to the beach, trying new restaurants, food, and music festivals.
