Symptoms of PCOS. This metabolic disorder affects many women of reproductive age. It often consists of a failure to ovulate, high levels of male hormones, a diminished ability to metabolize glucose and small fluid-filled cysts in the ovaries. PCOS can often be diagnosed through blood tests and a transvaginal ultrasound.
