Louisiana Employers Offering Fertility Benefits

The number of Louisiana employers offering fertility benefits increases each year

One of the many questions our financial counselors receive daily is whether a patient’s insurance offers benefits for infertility treatment. Louisiana employers offering fertility benefits are still few and far between, but the good news is that the number increases yearly.

If you’re unsure of your fertility benefits, you can turn to your human resources representative for help or do your own research, whether by talking to colleagues, reading the fine print in paperwork or going online. Your medical insurance card issued through your company should list contact information to be able to ask them what fertility benefits they offer. Typically, it’s the insurance providers themselves, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield or UnitedHealthcare, that can best explain which benefits you’re eligible for.

Also, ask your insurance provider about different plans – sometimes you will have different coverage depending on which plan you’re on and it might make sense to switch plans. Look at your partner’s insurance, too. In some cases, it might be a better benefit than the one you’re getting from your own company.
