The number of Louisiana employers offering fertility benefits increases each year
One of the many questions our financial counselors receive daily is whether a patient’s insurance offers benefits for infertility treatment. Louisiana employers offering fertility benefits are still few and far between, but the good news is that the number increases yearly.
Employees unsure of their fertility benefits can turn to their human resources representative for help or do their own research, whether by talking to colleagues, reading the fine print in paperwork or going online. Call whatever insurance you’re getting through your company and ask them what fertility benefits they offer. Typically it’s the insurance providers themselves, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield or UnitedHealthcare, that can best explain which benefits you’re eligible for.
Also, ask your insurance provider about different plans – sometimes you will have different coverage depending on which plan you’re on and it might make sense to switch. Look at your partner’s insurance, too. In some cases it might be a better benefit than the one you’re getting from your own company.
