Parents Gifted With IVF Pay It Forward

Couple decide to pay it forward with IVF gift to another couple

Ashton Fox pays it forwardIn November 2014, Ashton and Jason Fox won a free cycle of in vitro fertilization (IVF) at the Baby Steps: Infertility Awareness 5K, presented by Sarah’s Laughter and Fertility Answers. As a result of the treatment, Ashton conceive and delivered a baby in March 2016.

Sarah’s Laughter is a Baton Rouge-based Christian Support for Infertility & Child Loss Organization that provides support for those struggling with infertility or the death of a baby. Every year, Sarah’s Laughter hosts the Baby Steps: Infertility Awareness 5K, a community event to raise awareness for infertility. At the 2014 5K event, Fertility Answers was able to support Sarah’s Laughter by donating one free IVF cycle and the chance to become parents to one couple struggling with infertility. Ashton and Jason were the 2014 winners.

Shortly after their win, the couple decided to pay it forward by helping another couple in need have a child of their own. They set up a gofundme.com campaign and over the course of four months, raised money to help another couple in Sarah’s Laughter adopt a child.

“There’s no way to adequately show gratitude for something like this, but we wanted to do something to show how thankful we are,” said Ashton. “The most amazing part of the campaign was learning that most of the donors were going through their own infertility struggles. It felt really good to do this with the help of so many families just like us.”

Ashton and Jason conceived with the help of Dr. Bobby Webster of Fertility Answers, who is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as reproductive endocrinology and fertility. “Our experience with Dr. Webster and his team has been absolutely amazing,” says Fox. “To say that they’re a part of our family is an understatement. He’s so much more than a doctor and his practice is so much more than medicine.”
