Fertility Answers is proud to add its own Executive Counsel, Amy Kern, to its staff.
This makes Fertility Answers the first and only fertility clinic in the State of Louisiana to have their own attorney acting as a patient advocate and promoting the very best patient care in the state.
Before joining Fertility Answers, Amy Kern operated her own law practice for over ten years, solely dedicated to the field of assisted reproductive technology law and specializing in private adoptions. Over these years, she has worked throughout Louisiana and with Fertility Answers, representing fertility patients regarding consents as well as counseling them on the complicated issues that surround the disposition of frozen embryos, gestational carriers, and egg and embryo donation.
Amy Kern helps patients understand the laws surrounding fertility treatments.
Amy Kern will continue to provide patient advocacy as a member of the Fertility Answers team, helping our patients understand the consents and laws affecting their fertility treatment as well as provide patient care and focus on the advancement and development of our practice. Most importantly, patients will have access to on-site legal counsel to assist them through the sometimes overwhelming legal processes regarding fertility treatments, frozen embryos, gestational carriers, and egg and embryo donation.
Amy Kern received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of New Orleans and her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University, School of Law, graduating in the top 10% of her class. She has previously worked for the Louisiana State Supreme Court in the criminal appeals division assessing juvenile appeals, for the Louisiana State Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals as a supervisor of special criminal appeals section, in the Juvenile Public Defenders Office, in the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, and as an Orleans Parish Juvenile Court Judge, Ad Hoc.
Amy Kern is also the owner and director of Beginning Families, a company practicing exclusively in assisted reproductive technology law and adoptions. Starting in August 2019, Amy will also be a Professor of Law at Louisiana State University teaching assisted reproductive technology law.
Amy Kern is the only Fellow from Louisiana in the American Academy of Assisted Reproductive Technology Attorneys. She is a Board Member of the Legal Professionals Group of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and is a professional member of Resolve, the National Infertility Association.
