Chelsey Leisinger, Ph.D., IVF Laboratory Manager for our Louisiana IVF Labs, specializes in embryo biopsy and cryopreservation techniques.
A native of Iowa, Dr. Leisinger earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University. She then completed her Master of Science in Comparative and Veterinary Medicine with a focus on reproductive physiology from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in Biological and Veterinary Medical Sciences with a focus on reproductive physiology from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Leisinger was most recently the Consulting Senior Embryologist at Overlake Reproductive Health in Bellevue, WA, a suburb of Seattle. She has extensive experience and knowledge in oocyte and embryo vitrification techniques, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and embryo biopsy for preimplantation genetic testing (PGT).
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Leisinger has a passion for both teaching and research.
At Ohio State and Louisiana State Universities, she taught lectures and laboratories to several undergraduate, veterinary and graduate students on various topics related to embryology and artificial insemination in domestic animals. She has also assisted with several continuing education courses for veterinarians, delivering lectures and training sessions on embryo collection and evaluation, as well as the cryopreservation of semen, oocytes and embryos. During her academic training she conducted reproductive work in several animal species, including horses, cattle, sheep, goats, alpacas and dogs. She has authored and co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts and research communications, including first author publications on mammalian oocyte maturation, sperm cryopreservation and the effects of progesterone-deprivation on preimplantation embryos and endometrium. She has presented the results of her research at several national and international scientific symposia.
She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society for the Study of Reproduction, College of Reproductive Biology, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Embryo Transfer Society and the International Embryo Technology Society.
Growing up in the Midwest, Dr. Leisinger is an avid sports fan and lifelong Cubs and Bears fan. Additionally, she has been riding and showing horses her entire life. She and her husband Carlos enjoy playing soccer and spending time with their Dutch shepherd Rye.
