National Infertility Awareness Week® occurs every April, and Fertility Answers wants to help raise awareness about infertility, fertility potential and fertility preservation.
The Facts About Infertility
Infertility impacts more people than you would think. Approximately 1 in 6 couples in the U.S. struggle with the inability to conceive a child, many in silence. And infertility doesn’t just impact women. Men can also be the cause of a couple’s infertility in up to 40% of cases. Additionally, 25% of infertile couples have more than one factor that contributes to their infertility. And irregular or abnormal ovulation accounts for approximately 25 percent of all female infertility problems. The good news is that most infertility cases — 85% to 90% — can be treated with conventional medical therapies such as medication or surgery. While vital for some patients, in vitro fertilization and similar treatments account for less than 3% of infertility services.
